Twisted Covers Symposium
Friday, November 6, 2009, 1-5pm
John Labatt Visual Art Centre, room 247
University of Western Ontario

Round table conversations with theorists, historians, critics and artists to continue the dialogue that initiated the exhibition including the question of what is the status and function of a cover song and the artists that make them?

Each popular song has a life other than its official one. Its record captures, refines and replicates one fleeting moment of its existence. All the other versions—listened and danced to, hummed and chanted, swapped, shared, covered—which orbit around it are as much its truth as the ideal original.
